TAX RENEWALS PASS

JCAFT leaders joined with superintendents and Boards Of Education, the PTA and other organizations to aggressively help get two taxes renewed for the next 29 years. These renewals are vital to maintenance projects, academic programs, expansion of extra-curricular activities and higher local pay supplements.  They will also prevent layoffs of teachers and support staff.

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all who voted and all who worked to get the renewals passed.

GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING

IN THE LEEDS CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM!

The January 24th meeting of the Leeds City Board of education was preceded by an appreciation dinner for members of the school board.  School administrators and central office staff all expressed their thanks to the board members for all they have done to move the schools forward.

NEW LEEDS HIGH SCHOOL PLANNED

Following the dinner the Board met to discuss the preliminary plans for the new Leeds High School.  A representative from Goodwin Mills and Cawood revealed several drawings of the proposed school.  The Board members reviewed the plans and options were discussed.  The display boards will by exhibited in the Leeds Schools in order that all employees may view the plans.

Dr. Pack is to be applauded for giving employees input, through the use of a survey.  Dr. Pack hopes to identify the site for the new facility and have the plans finalized before the start of the 2006 school year.  This new facility is necessary in order for the school system to move forward and bring growth to the city of Leeds.  Good luck on this long overdue project.
